At 1550 meters, it is perched on one of the highest mountain ranges in Karnataka, graced by the westerly winds from the Arabian Sea, just below a pond called Gālikere, which quite literally means ‘a pond in the wind’. A 5-room mountain villa stands tall in its natural earthy hues, commingling with the thick and lush moist-deciduous forests and Shola grasslands on the mountain slopes.
Every detail of the villa reflects a dedication to sustainable living. For Re- to blend in and become a part of the earth it stands on, local earth, stone, surkhi, and mortar were used for a Poured Earth Construction (PEC). The villa is equipped with both a windmill and a water turbine, harnessing nature’s bounty of renewable energy sources to provide sustainable and eco-friendly power. Our climate control architecture is designed to minimize energy consumption without compromising your comfort, allowing you to coexist in style while treading lightly upon the earth.
Re- is built with soul and passion for the environment. Restored doors, furniture, and other architectural elements, each with a story to tell, breathe life into this villa. Collected antiques and rugs from recycled materials embrace imperfections and the beauty of asymmetry. This philosophy of wabi-sabi guides us in finding beauty in the imperfect and appreciating the character of old-world craftsmanship.
